Enrollment Fee (INR-100)

Since COVID, the condition of the artisans has been vulnerable and many struggle to afford to pay 100 rupees one time enrollment fee that is being charged as a part of maintenance cost towards the portal. We would be grateful if you could support to get the artisans enrolled so that they get to make the most out of this platform.

Digital Skilling

Providing digital literacy and skills is as important as roti, kapda and makaan (food, clothing and shelter) nowadays. DEF has been constantly working towards providing digital literacy since 2002 and in this regard, an amount of 500 rupees is being spent per person. If you want to support the initiative, please support artisans who in turn would enable their family members to be digitally empowered to sustain in this digital age.

COVID-19 Support

As the entire nation is trying to get back to its rhythm post Covid 19 pandemic, craftsmen are almost at the breaking point with poor market demands. Today, even if they have received orders, they do not have a sufficient supply of raw materials to meet the demand. The pandemic has not only shattered their dreams, but also taken away their only source of income and made them helpless. The virus has slowly crept into the rural areas, base of weaving communities, severely impacting the economic cycle. Hoping and waiting, they are struggling to survive.

Digikargha & DEF has been supporting the livelihood of more than 50,000 weavers from 25 clusters spread across India. But due to the current situation, they are in dire need of work in order to feed their families. Such a situation has pushed the craftsmanship on the brink of being lost which needs to be revived.

Keeping this in view, Digital Artisans of India has launched its campaign “ThreadtoBread” to help the community of artisans to battle the unprecedented crisis of Covid-19. The campaign aims to raise 100,00,000 rupees to provide them with raw materials, after which the production can start. As the production increases, the wages will eventually go up helping them to make ends meet.

The campaign primarily aims to:

Reach out to 50000 artisans or 10000+ households in 25+ locations with raw materials to start the production and to bring appropriate orders, which will help them to earn some money to buy basic necessities like ration, medicines, etc.

Each penny will help them and their families in these testing times to survive the pandemic. Your contribution could go a long way in helping the revival of our weaving communities.
